New editor for The Citizen, Steve Motale
The Citizen newspaper, has officially announced its new editor. Steve Motale, currently executive editor of Pretoria News, will join the ranks of The Citizen in November.
Says Eureka Zandberg, publisher of The Citizen: "We are thrilled to welcome Steve on board. He is, after all, no stranger to The Citizen. Motale joined The Citizen as a reporter in 2002 where he subsequently made his mark as political editor of The Citizen and editor of Citizen Metro."
Motale steps into the shoes of his predecessor, editor Martin Williams. Williams who has been with The Citizen for 19 years, and has contributed to its many successes over the years, is retiring end of October 2013. He feels the time has to come to dedicate himself fully to that which he loves most, writing. Says Zandberg: "We are fortunate to retain Martin's expertise as he will remain part of The Citizen family and continue to write for us as editor-at-large."
Motale takes over the reins as editor of The Citizen with effect from 1 November 2013.
The Citizen is a daily national newspaper, distributed Monday to Friday, with its core circulation in Gauteng (82%). Super Saturday Citizen appears on Saturdays.
