The Citizen and Saturday Citizen outperform competitors in quarter two, 2017

The Citizen Monday to Friday newspaper increased its print circulation by 2% in quarter two (April - June) compared to quarter one (January - March) 2017, thereby outperforming all other daily newspapers in Gauteng. In fact, overall, daily newspapers declined by 4% from quarter one to quarter two.

Saturday Citizen increased its circulation by 5% from quarter one (January – March) to quarter two (April – June) 2017, making it the only weekend newspaper in Gauteng that showed an upturn in circulation for the said period. Overall, weekend newspapers declined by 3% in quarter two, 2017.

Please bear in mind that in Q2 2016 (April – June) The Citizen still published its Monday to Friday and Saturday edition in KwaZulu-Natal. Publishing has been stopped in July 2016, hence the fact that we can’t compare Q2 2017 to Q2 2016 for both publications.

The Citizen is a daily national newspaper, distributed Monday to Friday, with its core circulation in Gauteng (82%). Super Saturday Citizen appears on Saturdays.
