Rand Aid creates 'Hip Op Granny'
To ensure that that the non-profit organisation Rand Aid Association has its own voice when it comes to spreading the love that it provides to its elderly charges, it created a character to promote the organisation. A competition was held within the organisation's various retirement villages to design, conceptualise and bring to life 'Aggie Hatrick' and her husband, Gerry.

Joy Bishop, a Rand Aid Elphin Lodge retirement village resident, designed the winning entry and the concept was launched and well received, on Metro FM's afternoon drive show, The Touchdown, by DJ Touch, who donated R5000 to the cause.
Aggie and Gerry humorously give advice and highlight the plight of the aged in need residing at Rand Aid and in South Africa in general.
"I like hearing my own voice, and, being the age I am, seem to get away with it," says Aggie. "That's good though, because it's all for the benefit of the aged in need and that's why I need you to get to know all about me and those that I aim to help."
