Shield Teens hosts VJ competition

Shield Teens is looking for 12 girls aged 12 - 18 in a countrywide competition, Shield Teens No Sweat Music Fan Search, to find South Africa's top Video Jockey (VJ). The three finalists will compete for R50 000, R30 000 and R20 000 bursaries towards a career in VJing.

The competition will be televised at 6.30pm on Sunday evenings on e.TV from 13 September 2009 until the final winner is announced on 6 December 2009.

Aspiring VJs in Johannesburg are urged to SMS their name, nearest city and the last four digits of a barcode from any Shield product to 34855. They can also enter via the web at www.shieldteens.co.za or mobi at www.shieldteens.mobi.

Ethne Whitley, spokesperson for Shield, says the brand is presenting this opportunity to young girls with the aim of helping them develop self-confidence and achieve their potential. "Music is the soundtrack of their lives and the brand is searching for girls who have what it takes to become South Africa's best VJs."
