Adamo (art director) and Struwig (copywriter) produced a thought-provoking and highly relevant advert that resounds with the frustration thousands of South African children with degenerative sight conditions would experience when attempting to enjoy the magic of cinema.
Roberto explains, "We were both sitting outside, came up with the idea and quickly scamped it out on a call sheet. We tried not to overthink it too much and just went with it, keeping it as simple as possible."
"Obviously we feel very honoured to be chosen as the winners, especially from a country like South Africa with such amazing up and coming talent. It's quite humbling and we'll certainly try and do our best to represent the South African advertising industry when we compete in Cannes," they added.
Giran Adams and Jenny Glazier represented The Jupiter Drawing Room Cape Town with their artwork which earned them second place, with Net#work BBDO's Johannesburg team, Emma-Jane Harbour and Chumani Mthotshi, claiming third place.
