Restaurant Week 5 Year Anniversary awards best performing restaurants per region
With 774 reviews in total, including ratings for cuisine, service and ambience, the Restaurant Week celebrated its fifth-anniversary edition, which saw over 15,000 guests make their way to the 100 participating top restaurants.
Best Restaurant - Durbanville Hills in the Winelands
The best performing restaurants included:
Durbanville Hills in the Winelands with the Best Restaurant Award 5 Year Anniversary edition 2017. They received high scores for cuisine: 9.8, service: 10 and ambience: 9.5, resulting in a beautiful average of 9.7.
Previous winners of the Best Restaurant Award are Myoga (Autumn 2017), Black Bamboo (Spring 2016), Myoga (Autumn 2016), The Restaurant at Newton Johnson (2015), Buitenverwachting (2014) and Planet Restaurant (2013).

From all pictures that were shared on social media using the hashtag #BestDish, 10 pictures were selected as finalists and uploaded for a final voting round on Facebook. Although the 10 finalists (LBV Bistro & Wine Bar, Luce at Hyde Park, Glen Carlou, Glenda’s, oneNINEone, Myoga, Restaurant Jardine, The Black Bamboo) all mastered the art of plating, it was the cheesecake, strawberries and mascarpone from head chef Darren O’Donovan of LBV Bistro & Wine Bar in Johannesburg that got the most likes in the #BestDish competition.

The best dish had 30% of the votes and scooped the Best Dish Award 5 Year Anniversary 2017. Previous winners of the Best Dish Award are the Black Bamboo (Autumn 2017), Athol Place (Spring 2016), Kitima (Autumn 2016), Marc’s Table (2015), The Restaurant at Newton Johnson (2014) and Central One (2013).
