These teddy bears are hand made by a group of very special people participating in a programme called Community Creations, a skill-training programme which forms part of Ikamva Labantu, a non-profit organisation whose primary objectives are to redress the damaging effects of South Africa's past and to support its growing democracy.
At the Canal Walk Teddy Bear Factory, the bears will be stuffed and dressed by 5 to 12 year olds visiting the centre this festive season, for a small donation. On completion, the bears can either be taken home, or placed under a Christmas tree to be given to children less fortunate as Christmas presents.
