The sixth year’s focus was on building and renovating living spaces for the benefit of local communities. The objective was to provide local communities with places for meeting, talking and sharing with each other. By doing this, the Pernod Ricard staff aimed to embody the group’s vision of “Créateurs de convivialité” (Creators of Conviviality) through their collective endeavours.

In partnership with non-governmental associations and organisations, the 85 Pernod Ricard subsidiaries successfully completed community initiatives. In total, more than a hundred projects were carried out in a single day.

South African response

In South Africa, over 300 employees of Pernod Ricard South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa devoted an entire day to renovate and transform a site of their choice within each region. Massmart Walmart, a long term retail partner of Responsib'All Day, sponsored each team on the day with water for all the workers and employees involved and gifted a few, much needed shopping vouchers for the all the beneficiaries involved.

The sites were:

  • The Roses Sports Centre- Cornal Hendricks Foundation (Wellington)
  • The Look Forward Creativity Centre (Johannesburg)
  • The Amadea Safe House (Pretoria)
  • The Oceanarium museum (Port Elizabeth)
  • The Haven (East London)
  • The Freestate Care in Action, community feeding centre (Free State)
  • The African Art Centre in Durban (KwaZulu-Natal)

Paul Scanlon, MD of Pernod Ricard South Africa said, “We are proud to be part of such an incredible, global initiative. Our aim was to be selfless, give back, restore and uplift the various targeted communities to the best of our abilities, in order to be the change we wish to see in the world.”

According to the internal commitment survey of its 18,500 employees, conducted by the independent firm Towers Watson, 95% of Pernod Ricard employees feel proud to be associated with their company, 93% said they fully support the Group’s values and 90% consider that their company is a socially responsible actor of its community.
