On the road with Ilanga

Ilanga's new regular motoring supplement, Lishay'umgwaqo (“On the Road”) has been inserted into its Thursday and Sunday newspapers for the past few months, targeting the growing category of middle class black readers with significant disposable incomes.

Each week the latest in motoring is covered, drawing on the resources of Wheels 24plus Ilanga's own journalists spending time with the industry.

The newspaper reports strong advertising support and the supplement - which has been running since 7 August 2008 - has proved immensely popular among readers, complementing the new areas of coverage opened up by two other regular supplements: Ilanga Lase Khaya (Ilanga in the Home - women's issues/home issues) and Ilanga le Theku (Ilanga at the Bay - entertainment/show business).

Lishay'umgwaqo is a vote of confidence in the motor industry and the future,” says Ilanga MD Arthur Konigkramer.

“The industry is going through tough times right now but we are doing what we can to stimulate the market, at the same time bringing to a growing category of readers with significant disposable income valuable information on getting value in vehicle purchases.
