Choose the right battery for the right device
"One Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery takes the same number of photographs as eight alkaline batteries," explains Todd Montgomerie, managing director of Energizer SA. "In other words, a person using those alkaline batteries in a camera uses eight times more - and throws away eight times more - than a person taking the same number of pictures with lithium batteries."
It's also important to remember that rechargeable batteries are not necessarily more environmentally friendly than disposable batteries. One needs to take into consideration the application. No single battery type has the lowest impact on the environment across a wide range of environment impact categories. Each of the five battery chemistries offers environmental benefits but suffers from shortcomings. The best environmental option is to pick the right battery for the right device thereby reducing the number of batteries used.
