Oracle engages the French market
Oracle Airtime Sales has concluded an agreement with Regie Outremer, the sales operation responsible for French channels Canal + Horizons, TV5 Afrique, Trace TV and Canal France Internationale (CFI). Oracle will start local representation of these channels to South African-based advertisers wanting to reach Francophone territories throughout the African continent.
Regie Outremer is an affiliate of France Televisions Publicite. Canal + Horizons is a sports/movies-driven channel with 100 000 subscribers. TV5 Afrique is a news/magazine show-driven channel with 4 700 000 initialised households and content from the best French channels world-wide. Trace TV is a youth-targeted music channel and CFI is a sports-driven network beamed to about 45 countries.
Oracle Sales Director Chris Hitchings says: "Marketers are looking north for growth and need to find professional and accountable communication solutions throughout the continent.
"We can offer this through a variety of tiers namely, the DStv base throughout Africa, arrangements with free-to-air broadcasters in major territories, and now this greement with Regie Outremer, which has provided us with access to Francophone Africa for the first time. We believe that Africa is a major growth opportunity for our business."
Regie Outremer Client Service Director Fabien Hermant says: "It's important that we have a representative with local knowledge and contacts within the South African market to enable us to grow in the region. We believe that Oracle has a solid reputation and a very good grasp of what is required locally to sell our channels."
