"Hiervandaan" upbeat and easy
Les Javan's new album, "Hiervandaan" was launched in March at the Franschhoek Oesfees. With songs like Met Jou Aan My Sy, Heuningkrans, and Franschhoek Toe, "Hiervandaan" can be described as very upbeat and easy listening music with incredibly honest and humorous lyrics. The artist succeeded in capturing all the good and bad, happy and sad moments of life on this CD.
What makes the album even more unique is that the songs are performed by Les Javan and local informal associations of Afrikaans musicians and songwriters, such as the Delta Bluestars, the Delta Langbroek Band and a women's choir called the Delta Soetstemme, who, together with farmworkers of the Music van de Caab project, form the Delta Vastrap Genootskap.
For some it might take a while to get used to, but this mix of instruments and original, authentic voices makes it a very interesting and special album.
