Quick meals quickly cheat you out of your health and energy

Junk food and easy to prepare microwave foods are very lekker. It's convenient, fast, tasty and there are no dishes to wash afterwards - but these foods cause havoc in our bodies.

We all know what a healthy eating plan should look like. In this article I'm going to highlight some of the most important factors in such a plan.

It all starts with your groceries list. There is no need to shop in a health store; normal food will do just fine.

There are six main nutritional categories: protein, fats and oils, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fibre. And don't forget water. The important thing is to make sure you get these in daily.

The best sources of protein are fresh fish and free-range animals. Anything that is processed, preserved or canned is not as good fresh, whole products. Plant protein is also very good and we find it mostly in soy, beans and nuts.

People used to think that fats are unhealthy. Research showed that it's not always the case. Some fats really are unhealthy, but others again are vital for normal body-functioning. Our brain needs a lot of healthy fats just to function normally, so does our cardiovascular system. Instead of sunflower oil, rather use olive oil. Fish and free-range beef are again great sources. Also consider avocados and nuts.

The same as with fats, there are also good and bad carbohydrates. The main distinction is the level of processing that the food went through before it reaches your mouth. And when it's possible to get organic fresh fruit and vegetables, go for it.

When you eat a healthy dish with meat and vegetables, you're eating as healthy as you can. In meat you'll find protein, fats and oils and some minerals. In vegetables you'll find carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fibre. Add about two litres of water to that, and you're almost there.

The missing ingredient is a great food supplement range. When the Lord created the heavens and the earth, He gave the plants and later on the animals as food to us. In the mean time, man depleted the soil from its nutrients, genetically modified plants and pumped antibiotics and growth hormones into animals. The general food we eat today isn't as it used to be. Therefore we need a great food supplement range. The nutrients that went missing in current farming methods need to be added additionally to our food.

A general rule you could use when choosing a supplemental range is that, most of the time, the better quality products cost more. Another suggestion is to use only one brand's products. These products were designed to be in balance with each other. One last tip with regard to choosing a supplemental range is to find someone who only sells one specific range. This person should have knowledge about his products and the time to match your specific needs to the supplements.
