Mobile app aimed at empowering communities across SA
Built with the purpose of supporting the underrepresented youth demographic and township communities across South Africa, ICECam allows its users to share branded selfies and videos while earning from their social influence.
For every in-app like, comment, and share, users earn JETS, which can be used to redeem products online or over-the-counter across more than 2,500 retail stores in South Africa, including Shoprite and Checkers. Users are additionally rewarded JETS for cross-posting onto external social media networks.
“With ICECam, anyone with a smartphone can share content related to brands in the morning and purchase a loaf of bread, a cold drink, or even airtime in the afternoon,” says Gerjo Hoffman, director of growth and development at JET8 South Africa.
“Now, anyone and everyone with a smartphone can become a paid influencer.”
I.C.E Media or the Information Communication and Electronic Media Group uses the creation of content focused on arts and entertainment as a means for socio-economic transformation of historically disadvantaged communities.
Aubrey Botha, CEO at Mzansi Digital Republic Trust, added, “ICECam is the evolution of marketing and can position brands favourably to communities all over South Africa by turning anyone into a brand ambassador. By partnering with our Caring Brands campaign on ICECam, companies are empowered to use marketing budgets to derive social impact and brand consciousness, and in doing so, empower future markets.”
ICECAM is available to download from the Google Play Store, with iOS compatibility to follow in the coming weeks.
