REDISA wins 2015 Oracle Innovation Award
The award was presented to REDISA for efficiently complying with regulatory requirements, securing critical applications and sensitive data, and lowering operational costs.
"This award highlights to an international audience our hard work creating a management system which is an effective tool to build and grow a recycling industry, create jobs, deal with an environmental problem and at the same time make a significant contribution to reducing the national carbon footprint," says REDISA CEO, Hermann Erdmann.
Backbone of business
Technology is the backbone of the business. REDISA has been successful in marrying a highly sophisticated technology process with basic micro business capabilities. Basically, the system registers the tyres that need to be collected from dealerships for transport to one of the many depots around the country.
Because most transporters only have access to basic mobile phones, this information is sent via SMS functionality, while payment for the transporter is also sent via the same function. This process alone increases security and reduces theft as there are no physical money transactions.
In addition, using the software tools, REDISA is able to track carbon emissions created by the transport network of owner managed businesses. The initiative is also able to report on the emissions created by the processing facilities as a result of the tyres delivered to their premises.
