NG Traveller goes local with SA edition
“This gave us the confidence to launch National Geographic Traveller South Africa as an on-going and dedicated title,” says publisher Kelda Lund of 8 Ink Media, which also publishes the popular National Geographic Kids locally.
“We believe that the success lies in the mixture of local and international content with splendid visual appeal. The ‘All Travel, All The time' pay-off line resonates with those for whom travel, or dreams of travel, are a daily life experience. By extension, the magazine will go to the ends of the earth to bring authentic, fulfilling travel experiences to the reader.”
“The ‘explorer' in all of us”
“NG Traveller SA is aimed at the ‘explorer' in all of us and as such is geared towards helping our readers make informed, intelligent and exciting travel decisions,” says the magazine's editor, Kerryn Fischer.
Covering a broad range of destinations from adventure to ecotourism to luxury epics that take in the world's best five-star destinations and hotels, the uniqueness of NG Traveller lies in its ability to ‘discover a sense of place' in every destination covered.
Editorially, it will continue to strike a balance between international and local features and, like the US edition, give equal weight to concise information and tips and descriptive content. In addition, glorious photography enhances the magazine's glossy yet clean look.
Cover story
The cover story of the latest edition is on Brazil's 8000km beach. Other stories look at 20 budget SA bush-breaks, a gastronomic guide to Sydney, authentic Tokyo, stargazing safaris in the Cederberg, 48 hours in Athens, the new Beirut and cutting loose in provincial Provence.
