Yebo to Cheetah Sponsorship

Consumer awareness of Vodacom's sponsorship for Free State rugby squad, the Vodacom Cheetahs, is set to rise on the back of a new multi-pronged advertising campaign created by the cellular network's long-time advertising partner, FCB South Africa.

The campaign, which supports all the work done by Vodacom's sponsorship and event management partner SAIL, kicks off this month and is timed to dovetail with the start of the three-nation Vodacom Super 14 tournament, in which the Vodacom Cheetahs will compete for the first time.

The campaign that supported Vodacom's announcement that it would sponsor the Cheetahs got the ball rolling in terms of making supporters aware of Vodacom's backing. Now, with the Vodacom Super 14 series about to boot up and the Vodacom Cheetahs making their debut in the competition, there is an ideal opportunity to build on the initial awareness and entrench the Vodacom brand even further.

Above-the-line elements of the campaign include regional and national press/magazine, radio and outdoor. A 30-second TV commercial is also planned; it will feature footage taken from the Vodacom Cheetahs' first Super 14 encounter against the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein on 10 February.

Through-the-line elements developed by and managed by SAIL include a promotion/competition in conjunction with OFM Radio, sms competitions, on-field entertainment and retail promotions.
