Sappi, the world's leading producer of coated fine paper, has been confirmed as the platinum sponsor of the next international World Print Congress (WPC 8) to be hosted for the first time in South Africa at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, 24 - 28 January 2005.

"The print medium is unique and powerful," says Jonathan Leslie, Chief Executive Officer of Sappi Limited. "It captures the imagination, builds brands, sells goods and delivers corporate messages. In today's world of media clutter, print ensures that messages are read on purpose and with purpose."

"We are proud to be the single platinum sponsor of a global event bringing the producers and users of printed media together," he says. "The industry must seize the opportunity to redefine, reframe and reposition the meaning and value of print. Nothing engages like print, and no one is more committed to enhancing the print experience than Sappi."

The 8th World Print & Communications Congress is hosted by the World Print and Communication Forum (WPCF), which is an association representing of all the globe's major trans-national and regional printing associations, focused on forming a single global exchange platform for the printing and communication industry and stages regular world congresses to analyse market trends and business opportunities. The theme of the WPC8 is "The World of Print Profiting Today and Tomorrow."

"WPC8 will be a truly world-class event, with participation of speakers and delegates from all corners of the globe who will address a myriad of topics and issues that face the global print, packaging and related industries in the 21st Century, offering the platform to forecast the future of the industry, identify and access trends and influences that will provide insight on how to make the right strategic choices," says Chris Sykes, President of the WPCF and Chief Executive of the Printing Industries Federation of South Africa.

"The interest WPC8 has attracted to date has been overwhelming and I am incredibly grateful to the key industry players for their support and commitment to the event. There are a range of sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities available and we welcome any queries with regards to corporate and delegate participation in the event," adds Chris Sykes.
