Stockowners Business Park ideally situated in Midlands

The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, and the town of Howick in particular, is probably better known as a retirement destination with around 1 600 retirement units development over the last five years, and a further 300 odd units currently underway.

The status quo is about to change with the launch of the Stockowners Business Park which is set to bring a business balance to this predominantly residential town in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Stockowners Business Park was launched in October last year, with a number of sales concluded with local and national organisations eager to re-locate or establish new businesses in this idyllic location.

Wide range of sites available

Stockowners is a mixed use business node perfectly located on the N3 national road between Durban and Johannesburg, at the Howick / Tweedie off-ramp. It has excellent exposure to passing trade, with up to 22 000 vehicles passing this location per day during peak holiday season. The site is very well positioned for a warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing hub.

The development comprises a mix of light industrial sites ranging from 900m² to 3 000m², with a few larger sites ranging from 4 600m² up to two hectares. There is also a commercial site with 10 000m² retail space, as well as an office node with existing offices and rights for up to 10 000m² of office space.

Development will remain green

The office site has been sold to a local developer, DDKS Properties, which recently developed the very successful Green Acres centre in Howick. Their vision is to create a world class office park that will complement the business park. The original Stockowners offices are already leased to a number of prominent national and government organisations, and DDKS plans to develop an additional 4 000m2 of office space, which could be built to suit specific clients, for sale or to lease. In keeping with the business park the office development will focus on retaining its rural green environment.

The vision is to create a business park that will offer retail, commercial, light industrial and convenience facilities to serve the local population as well as the national and international market. The total capital investment once fully developed is estimated at R500 million, with the creation of a potential 2 000 formal employment opportunities.
