Sapa says that the survey was conducted by the Mobile Entertainment Forum and polled about 8 000 people in nine countries. Of the South Africans questioned, 89% reported using their cellphones to research or purchase a product.
Moreover, 72% of those surveyed globally use mobile Internet daily while 18% say that they no longer used a fixed-line connection at all.
However, the report highlighted the fact that most users were concerned about security, particularly when it comes to financial transactions and 27% said they would use their phones for more financial transactions if the security issues were addressed.
