(Gold)Fish are friends ...
Get up and shake it now
On entry, we bought ourselves a lovely goodie bag with some cheese and wine, and we got a pretty awesome spot on the lawn right in front of the stage. There was actually no need for our picnic blanket because it was not even 10 minutes into the show that the "Fishies" (as their endearing fans like to call them) had the whole crowd on their feet. Eight-year-olds to 80-year-olds were jamming to the heart-throbbing electronic dance remixes and the atmosphere was absolutely pumping
Using what they've been given
The two surfer boys - David Poole and Dominic Peters - have the ability to capture their audience from the instant they set foot on stage and keep them locked into an invisible bubble (yes, you had to be there to know that this is the only way to describe it) with their live instruments, like the saxophone, double bass, keyboard and flute. They were accompanied by their whole "Goldfish Family", which includes the incredibly talented Emily Bruce, Monique Helleber and Sakhile Moleshe (aka their Main Ninja).
If you were unfortunate enough to miss the Kirstenbosch show, you will be happy to know that you can still "catch" the Fishies on the following dates before they head overseas again:
Friday, 11 March: Barba's Cafe, Bloemfontein
Saturday, 12 March: Hatfield Square, Pretoria
Sunday, 13 March: Nicci Beach, Joburg East
Thursday, 17 March: Clapham Gold, Joburg North
Friday, 18 March: Trinity, Cape Town
If you were one of the lucky ones there on Sunday, I hope that you are ready to get busy living, no matter the weather.
