New conference facilities at Protea Hotel OR Tambo Airport

Protea Hotel OR Tambo Airport will unveil new conferencing facilities that can be used for anything from a car launch to a board meeting, at the end of June, 2012. This brings the hotel's number of conference venues to nine, which can accommodate 300 delegates.

The new facilities boast state-of-the-art AV equipment, including mounted data projectors, electronically controlled drop-down screens and built-in PA systems.

The conferencing facility was designed in such a way that all conference rooms have natural lighting, which can be closed off with block-out curtains.

All conference venues have variable light settings, enabling clients to customise their settings, whether it is bright light for training or toned down for intimate dinner functions.

More flexibility

The conference area also has large entrance bays to allow for exhibitions and car shows, and the second largest venue can be split into two separate areas, giving more flexibility.

The banqueting facilities have dedicated kitchens, assisting the smooth running of working breakfasts and cocktail evenings.

Protea Hotel OR Tambo Airport's GM, Gawie Nel, said that in the hotel's quest for sustainability, the hotel was also using a Vivreau water purification system to provide bottled water to conference delegates that reduces the hotels' and clients' carbon impact.

The hotel's conferencing capacity will, from the end of June, comprise seven conference rooms and two boardrooms, increasing the capacity from four conference rooms and one boardroom.
