"Skeem" gets top award for Greene

Cape Town movie director Tim Greene has scooped the Audience Choice award for "Skeem" at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, according to Channel24 and Sowetan Live. "Skeem" is a comedy adventure story about a group of small-time crooks and greedy holiday-makers who scheme to get their hands of a box of cash at a run-down resort.

The movie stars Cape Town comedians, Kurt Schoonraad and David Isaacs along with Grant Swanby, Kenneth Nkosi, Rapulana Seiphemo, Casy Dolan, Terence Bridgett and Zikhona Sodlaka.

Greene said that he was "amazed to hear" roars of laughter from the audience during the screening of the film that focused on South Africa's own brand of humour.

Skeem will be released locally on Friday, 28 October 2011.
