It's hip to be a learner with new mag

Hip2B² (a division of the Shuttleworth Foundation) and Atoll Media are launching a new publishing project which aims to empower the youth with the means to a better future by proving them with a better knowledge in the fields of maths, science and technology.

The new magazine, titled Hip2B², will be targeting high school learners in grade 8 to 12 (14 to 18 years-olds). 100 000 copies will be distributed, free, on a national basis, focussing initially on the major economic centres of KZN, Western Cape and Gauteng. The schools will represent a cross section of some of the top institutions, as well as developing schools, to ensure a broad range of different social and economic backgrounds.

The Hip2B² magazine will both entertain and educate. The educational aspects will be 'cushioned' by sections that you would find in more mainstream magazines, eg entertainment, sports, gossip, reviews, a horoscope, competitions etc. The new mag will have a strong identity through its layouts, graphics and in its approach to these features.

The Hip2B² mag will be printed on glossy coated paper, perfect bound and handbag size. The higher production values will also apply to the layouts and visuals used throughout the publication.
