Drive to build schools
ubank will be hosting a fundraising presentation breakfast on 15 March 2011 to raise R6 million to construct the Lower Esitoleni Primary School in Engcobo village.
ubank's Rural Schools Development is one of its flagship programmes, which focuses on infrastructural development of rural schools to entrench conducive learning environments. It sees caring for the community through education to sustain a learning environment as critical.
The total number of schools that have benefited from this initiative is in the region of 169 in the North West, Free State, KZN, Limpopo and Eastern Cape.
"ubank recognises that this is a daunting task to pursue single-handedly. As part of a change in its approach, it has invited corporate South Africa to partner with it to build conducive learning environments for these rural areas and communities," commented, Derick Elbrecht, principal officer Teba Fund Trust.
