Turning mobile devices into gaming consoles

Logitech has released its PowerShell controller that turns compatible devices into mobile gaming consoles and roughly doubles battery life. It provides console-style game controls and increasing game playtime on the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, or iPod touch (5th generation) running iOS 7.

To use this first-of-its-kind mobile gaming console, users insert their compatible device into the controller as they would with a standard case. The analogue off-screen controls deliver a gaming experience that's familiar to console players everywhere, with a D-pad, shoulder triggers and face buttons that allow them to control game play.

They can use the entire screen for viewing the game, giving them a more immersive mobile gaming experience and, with the controller's comfortable shape, they can play for longer periods. The portable controller maintains a profile that fits easily in a pocket or small bag - putting intensive, complex games within reach wherever players are.

"We designed this controller to deliver a true console-gaming experience on an iOS 7 mobile device," said Yousef Atwan, country manager of Logitech South Africa "With gaming so pervasive on the mobile platform - our research shows that 87% of iPhone and iPod touch users play games on their device - it's time to revolutionise the experience."

The Logitech PowerShell Controller plus Battery are expected to be available in South Africa in February 2014 at the retail price of R1699. For more information, go to http://gaming.logitech.com/en-gb/home.
