Analysis: Mxit reveals its top 20 South African brands

Mobile social network, Mxit, has released its list of most followed South African brands. Supersport is in the number one spot having had 1,824,129 Mxit users add the app to their contact roster.

The numbers of followers on Mxit often eclipse the numbers brands achieve on other social media. For example, SuperSport has 206,458 likes on Facebook and 130,240 followers on Twitter.

Vincent Maher, CMO of Mxit, says, "Mxit users are quick to interact with apps that keep their content fresh, have high levels of user engagement and stay relevant. Looking at the top 20 brands it's easy to see what South Africans are into - sport, phones, food, and fun and a little bit of banking. What all of these brands have in common is that they keep their content updated, entertaining and focused."
