GEPF Board welcomes Disciplinary Committee's decision
Following discussions between Van Niekerk's legal advisors and that of GEPF, Van Niekerk before she was called to testify amended her plea from not guilty to guilty to the charges leveled against her. The Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee therefore determined that Van Niekerk be issued with a final written warning as a sanction.
Chairman of GEPF Board of Trustees, Arthur Moloto said the outcome confirmed the Board's decision to convene a disciplinary hearing and that it was GEPF's considered opinion that she had shown remorse for her actions. "This further illustrates the seriousness with which GEPF holds the principles of transparency and good governance in the conduct of its business."
GEPF maintains that the gravity of charges against the two employees is substantially different, and that the case against John Oliphant was continuing. While GEPF seeks a swift resolution it continues to adhere to the principle that the due process must be followed.
