Gillette to sponsor Movember

Gillette recognises that November is officially Movember, a time where moustaches are a focus point worldwide on the very important issue of men's health and prostate cancer.

Movember is a global campaign that sees moustaches sprouting across the globe with the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men's health, including prostate and testicular cancer and male mental health.

Raising awareness

"The company is proud to support a campaign that raises much needed awareness and funds for men's health issues. As a brand synonymous with helping men look, feel and be their best, it is a natural fit for Movember, which is about real men growing real moustaches and talking about real issues. As a major partner, during the month of October and November, the company will donate R3 for every ProGlide product sold with the Movember stamp to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA)," says Jeanne du Plessis, Gillette communication manager.

It will also be encouraging men to embrace the gentlemanly spirit of the Mo during November and celebrate the golden age of the moustache, by providing exciting engagements to celebrate the Mo.

"The MoBile Barber - a fully kitted vintage barber shop - will tour the country and provide complimentary fine tuning and styling services with the ultimate grooming tools, by experienced barbers at various events in South Africa."

Prizes to be won

The company will also bring some fun to the campaign by giving away prizes on the Movember South Africa website. One of the lucky participants that raises R400 or more for the worthy cause will walk away with a prize valued at R50,000.

"We encourage everyone to start November clean shaven and register on za.Movember.com to participate in the campaign. For those who do not want to miss the fun, the Facebook page will have details of all the activities that the company will be bringing to the Movember community around the country. The brand is excited to be celebrating the moustache while supporting a worthy cause and raising much-needed funds and awareness. After all, the company's founder also wore a moustache," concludes Du Plessis.
