Interactive music video war Jy Druk Play launched
Viewers will use a synchronised Jy Druk Play Facebook application and mobile site to decide which music video plays next while interacting with other viewers on air as well as online. At any time, four music videos from around the world will go head-to-head in an all-out war for television domination, vying for the votes of MK viewers to see which one is going to dominate live on their television screens.
Vodacom Unlimited is partnering with MK on Jy Druk Play and fans will be able to vote for the video that they want to rule on MK via social networks and SMS. To vote on Facebook fans can log on to the MK Facebook page www.facebook.com/MKtv.co.za and optimised for smartphones on Druk Play.mobi. It is also available to users of all networks via SMS on 34086 at R1.50 per SMS.
With numerous ways to pick a winner, anyone can don virtual combat gear and get onto the Jy Druk Play battlefield.
Content executive for MK, Stephan Potgieter, is eager to kick off the show and expose MK viewers to a new kind of viewing: "MK's audience is intensely in touch with technology and lives in the social space. By introducing Jy Druk Play, the MK audience has the opportunity to interact with the channel in real time and decide what they want to watch. It is but just one way of MK bettering the product on offer to our viewers."
The show advances the concept of social TV by selecting and displaying the names and profile pictures of viewers who supported the winning video and by hosting a live audience chat channel, which combines Facebook, Twitter and SMS interaction on air as well as on Facebook.
