FutureLearn partners with CAMI Education to broaden offering to schools and parents

FutureLearn has announced the acquisition of CAMI Education, a provider of education software to schools, learners and tutors. The agreement, which should be completed before the end of 2017 will see the companies joining forces to strengthen FutureLearn's current offering to its clients.

Commenting on the acquisition, Sarie Vorster, CEO and co-owner of CAMI Education, said: “We are very excited about the prospect of joining forces with FutureLearn, a company with a stellar reputation and valuable expertise in the education market.”

The addition of CAMI Education to FutureLearn’s stable – which includes home education brand Impaq, school and teacher materials and support brand Teach360, the group also owns a school in Centurion Arrow Academy, as well as tutoring platform Tuta-me – is expected to provide additional practice and feedback tools to the group’s existing offerings.

Noted Stefan Botha, CEO of FutureLearn: “Since its establishment in 1984, CAMI Education has developed an extensive range of software for mathematics, reading, literacy, science and perceptual skills. These tools are currently used in more than a thousand schools in South Africa and abroad. Following the integration of these tools with our existing offerings, users can expect a seamless learning experience in core subjects across all grades.”

With education having experienced significant development in recent years and with education reformists predicting significant improvements and breakthrough innovation in global education systems over the next 10 – 20 years, Botha believes that FutureLearn and CAMI are ideally positioned to contribute to this innovation in education provision and technology.

“We are working towards the development of the future of learning – something which I hope will benefit South African learners and contribute to the growth and development of our country,” he concluded.

FutureLearn is majority owned by the PSG Group, whose other education investments include Curro and ITSI.
