Sasol steps up to the podium to make Olympic dreams come true

Sasol has embarked on a marketing campaign to underpin its sponsorship of the South African Olympic team attending the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The company also fulfilled the dreams of two 'Reach for a Dream' teenagers, by making it possible for them to go to Athens to see their heroes performing.

Sasol CEO Pieter Cox: "Sasol is more than just a sponsor of the Olympic Games. We are passionate about South Africa and all our people and we want the entire nation to support our athletes by signaling that we have a winning formula and are excited about their participation and performance."

Sasol will also launch a special TV advertising campaign this week, which will run until end-August, to promote brand recognition. The commercials feature an enthusiastic SA sports fan coaching various members of the SA Olympic team, despite his obvious lack of sporting prowess.

Sasol is also driving its Olympic Games sponsorship from the petrol forecourts of its new retail convenience centres with Olympic Games swimming gold medalist, Penny Heyns. She will be hosting 'opening ceremonies' and signing autographs.

Sasol's multi-million rand sponsorship of the SA Olympic team is geared towards creating winners and breeding champions and forms part of NOCSA's operation excellence campaign.
