Rustenburg High School for Girls holds summer concert fundraiser

Rustenburg High School for Girls is holding a fund-raising concert on 16 March, 2013, from 4pm to 10 pm with some of the best local bands. The school hopes to raise funds so that the Delft Big Band can tour with Rustenburg to Beijing in 2014 for the Music World Tutti Festival.

The Rudimentals will provide a ska/reggae vibe; you can get into the electro swing with Goodluck and enjoy the fusion pop/rock of girl-duo The Arrows. The Oxygen Thieves, a young, talented Cape Town alternative/indie act, will also perform on the night.

Also performing is the Delft Big Band, part of a development programme targeted at vulnerable youths from high schools in Leiden, Rosendal and Voorbrug. More than 1000 learners from the area participate in the programme and the most advanced musicians form the Delft Big Band.

Joining the line-up is crowd magnet Jimmy Nevis and newcomer Matthew O'Connell, who will be promoting their latest songs. The Rustenburg Jazz Band, which performed on the Espresso Breakfast Show last year, will open the concert with some firm favourites.

Concert-goers will be able to picnic on the lawns while enjoying great music. Food will be available for sale at the event. Tickets cost R150 for adults, R120 for scholars, while children under eight get in free. No alcohol for sale.

To book, email az.gro.shgr@gnikoob or buy your ticket at the gate from 2pm. More details on www.facebook.com/rustenburggirls.
