    Zuma pulls the plug on energy minister

    Energy minister, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, was one the ministers who got axed in President Jacob Zuma's epic cabinet reshuffle. She is replaced by Mmamoloko Kubayi.

    The new incumbent previously held the position of chairperson of parliament’s telecommunications and postal services committee, and is regarded as one of the harder working MPs.

    Kubayi was a South African Students Congress branch chair at Vista University, and later became the deputy provincial secretary of the ANC Youth League in Gauteng.

    She will now become responsible for overseeing the controversial nuclear deal in her new role.
