J.C. Le Roux brings on the bubbly

The House of J.C. Le Roux, South Africa's only dedicated sparkling wine cellar, has put the shimmer into summer with three new vintages in its signature Méthode Cap Classique range - Pinot Noir 1997, Pinot Noir Rosé 1997 and Chardonnay 2000.

"J.C. Le Roux Pinot Noir 1997 is round and full-bodied with accents of red fruit and a hint of fresh berries. This crisp Cap Classique has a bright golden colour that complements its wonderful fruit-driven flavours on the nose and complexity on the palate," said winemaker Melanie van der Merwe.

A cool 96-month maturation period on the lees has resulted in a full, robust style and a lingering, refined finish.

J.C. Le Roux Pinot Noir Rosé 1997 comprises 98% Pinot noir and a 2% blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, to which it owes its sensuous salmon pink hue. "The enticing blush of this fruity, fleshy and elegantly robust bubbly with its subtle tones of rust, hints at gentleness and romance, while the wine displays a perfect balance between freshness and maturation," said Melanie.

J.C. Le Roux Chardonnay 2000 is a well-balanced Cap Classique displaying lovely crisp flavours. It has a classic bouquet of butterscotch and lemon flavours on the nose, a creamy entrance and fresh, lively aftertaste. "The wine spent 58 months on the lees, which resulted in an outstanding vintage that will last for years," added Melanie.
