Facebook launches Messenger camera
Just in time for the holiday season, Messenger is launching a fast new camera with unique art, 3D masks and special effects to help users celebrate with the friends and family they talk to on Messenger.
As the world becomes more visual, the camera is often replacing the keyboard, as over 2.5 billion emojis, photos, stickers and videos are sent every day on Messenger.
Facebook is evolving and making it quicker and easier to capture and share moments as they happen. It is also expanding a test that lets people share a visual status with their friends on Messenger in some countries.
The Messenger camera is a new tool that lives just behind the inbox. It is always one tap away— whether users are already in a conversation or have just opened up the app. They will see the shutter button centre in the screen (dressed up for the holidays) - a tap takes photo and a long press records a video.
It has also added thousands of stickers, frames, masks and effects to choose from and users can personalise exactly how they use it. Facebook has worked with artists and influencers all over the world and they have added their own touch to the customisation tools now in use in Messenger.
Unique to Messenger, is a place where users can make their text messages more fun. The palette icon by the shutter will take them to a blank canvas where they can add art and stickers to text.
