New brand campaign for SABC1
SABC 1 has launched a new brand campaign, 'Life and TV Are One', across TV and radio, launching it live on the music show Live AMP earlier this month.
The TVC depicts a story of a young man, influenced by television, who develops into a successful artist but subsequently makes bad choices in life. However, he once again draws strength and inspiration from television and corrects his ways to become an inspiration and role model to others.
Also featured within the campaign is creative artwork by Capetonian Skumbuzo Vabaza, known as ‘Skubalisto’, who is responsible for hand drawing all the artwork for the TVC.
The new brand campaign includes Aaron Moloisi (TV presenter, actor and entrepreneur); Nathi (platinum-selling musician); Lebogang ‘Shugasmakx’ Mothibe (entrepreneur, artist and actor); Luthando ‘Lootlove’ Shosha (TV presenter) who are products of inspiration and influence by the TV brand and are today enjoying success in their respective careers.
SABC 1 has not had a brand campaign since 2009. The channel and youth culture have a historic dependency on each other and can never live in isolation. Therefore, the new brand campaign represents a journey to develop and reflect this sentiment – that SABC 1 is more than TV, it is a culture.
