Currently a judge at the Supreme Court of Appeal, Judge Navsa will focus on the role of the law and constitutional bodies in promoting accountability for corruption and maladministration in South Africa.

“Judge Navsa has had a distinguished legal career and was one of the pioneers of the public interest and access to justice law movement in South Africa both as former director of the Legal Resources Centre and chairperson of the Legal Aid Board of South Africa. As a judge, he has delivered a number of landmark judgments in a wide range of fields,” says Prof Sandy Liebenberg, H F Oppenheimer Chair in Human Rights Law at the SU Faculty of Law, who is hosting the lecture.
“Ethical and effective governance are essential to fulfilling the promise of human rights and the constitutional commitment of a better life for all. The lecture will thus address a theme that is vital to the future of South Africa’s constitutional democracy,” concludes Liebenberg.
