Since 2005, approximately 105 baby gorillas have been named, and another 11 baby gorillas will be celebrated and named at this year's event at the foot of the Virunga Mountains in Kinigi. According to Mantis CEO Adrian Gardiner, who attended "Kwita Izina" last year: "Rwanda represents one-third of the approximately 750 mountain gorillas in the wild. I urge the international community to assist the conservation authorities in Rwanda to protect these endangered gorillas and their environment to support the green economy of Rwanda. This annual celebration of giving names to newborn gorillas is a very moving experience; it's a once-in-a lifetime occasion for any wildlife supporters."
