Le Moulin Rouge - The Freedom of France

Le Moulin Rouge - The Freedom of France was written and directed by Darryl Spijkers, choreographed by Sume Lotter and performed by a cast of 101 incredible individuals. The play is based on true events and is expressed through a beautiful expression of song and dance.
Le Moulin Rouge - The Freedom of France

The show tells the story of the Moulin Rouge at a time when it was exploding at the seams with passion, music, dancing and dreams. However, it also moves through the second world war as the Germans invaded France and took over. Each scene brings to light various troubles that the characters have to face, but they grow and become better for it. You will laugh, cry and genuinely connect with each character that is presented to you.

The colours, costumes, dancing and singing are a feast for the eyes and are definitely something to be applauded. The music includes old classics from the Moulin Rouge that we all love, as well as modern songs that will have you bopping away in your seat. There is something for everyone, more lingerie than La Senza and a few six packs wondering around on stage... oh yes and of course the amazing talent that incorporates it all.

Le Moulin Rouge has finished it's run at the Artscape Theatre but will be performed at Spier Amphitheatre from 22 to 24 March. I must warn you that it is just under 3 hours long, so if you aren't one for a lengthy sit then it definitely isn't for you. However, if you can put that aside to be engulfed by a time period that is renowned for extravagance - then do it! You're missing out if you don't.
