EXCLUSIVE: Marsland to edit The New Age media, marketing page
Returning to her roots, veteran industry editor and journo Louise Marsland will be editing the latest initiative from The New Age newspaper: a weekly media and marketing page that will focus more in depth on the industry, and highlight news, personalities, new campaigns and career opportunities. The page launches this Wednesday, 18 April 2012.
Marsland (@louise_marsland), who left AdVantage magazine as editor-in-chief earlier this year, returns after her recent maternity leave to take up the challenge.
"No matter what industry you are in, or your profession, you need to understand marketing and branding. We intend to focus on young professionals in the industry and the opportunities available, as well as highlighting new advertising campaign launches and what makes the creative industries 'tick' in their contribution to our economy," says Marsland.
Marsland started her journalism career in daily newspapers in 1987, before specialising in business-to-business publishing in the media, marketing and advertising industry over the last 18 years, both in print and online. She has been editor of Progressive Retailing magazine, Marketing Mix magazine, FMCG Files ezine and leading industry portal Bizcommunity.com, as well as run her own media consultancy for a time.

Increase offering to the market
The New Age editor Ryland Fisher (@rylandfisher) explains that they are consistently looking at increasing their offering to the market and introducing innovative new sections and pages. South Africa's 'youngest' daily newspaper celebrated its first birthday in December 2011.
Says Ryland, "Over the next couple of weeks we will be introducing various new sections and new pages, including the Media and Marketing page, which we see as a vital business competency for any industry."
News for the page may be emailed Marsland at moc.liamg@egapgnitekramaidem. Reader engagement will be an important part of the page and readers will get to weigh in and comment on new brand campaigns via Twitter: @TNAmediamarket.
