Video clips give glimpse behind Protea Hotel doors

Protea Hotels is opening hotel doors with a new social media campaign to bring to life the stories that could happen in its hotels.

The brand has produced a series of 6-second Vine video clips that will be shared over Twitter and Facebook displaying a range of fun and quirky scenarios of what could happen behind closed doors.

The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) devised and produced the campaign with Base2, which was responsible for the online development and integration of the campaign onto the respective online and social channels.

The integration with Twitter allows the clips to be exposed quickly and easily to its user base, which numbers over half a billion. The clips can also easily be embedded in web pages or shared over Facebook.

The unique nature of Vine videos has seen it used in above-the-line ads for large multinational brands such as Nissan, Virgin Mobile and Mountain Dew. The BBC has described compilations of Vines as "mesmerising."

"What goes on behind hotel doors is often very funny and sometimes a little bizarre. Just looking at what lands up in hotel lost and found boxes is testament to that," says Protea hospitality group marketing manager, Nicholas Barenblatt.
