More Shopper's friends

Shopper's Friend, launched in June 2010 and distributed weekly to more than 2 million LSM 6 -10 households across Gauteng, has increased its month-end distribution to 2.7 million households. The increase in the weekly advertising tabloid, carrying retail loose inserts and run-of-print advertising, was initiated at the request of supporting retailers.

The increase, driven by strong demand from customers reportedly makes it the largest print medium available to advertisers targeting consumers in Gauteng. The province, with a population of 10.5 million, has the fifth largest economy in Africa when compared to individual countries and sits just above Algeria and Angola in terms of 2009 GDP.

Jacques Coetzee, GM of Shopper's Friend says, "Our clients are acutely aware of the importance of the Gauteng market and are delighted with outcomes achieved as a result of the publication's popularity.

"Households and individuals in Gauteng earn almost twice as much as residents of other provinces in South Africa. Astute marketers realise that Gauteng needs to be up-weighted in media plans and advertising investment to ensure that this market delivers the proportionate return."

According to Coetzee, the increased month-end distribution of Shopper's Friend will ensure that advertisers reach 99% of the greater Gauteng region's income. "Advertisers can select from 106 pockets across the region which include the previously 'unreachable' gated communities, and ensure that there is no wastage in their targeting," he concludes.
