The brand's tins, synonymous with special occasions and large functions, are now also available in 227 gram, 340 gram, 681 gram and 908 gram with the 454-gram tin. The everyday range will be sold in 50 gram, 125 gram and 250-gram boxes.

The company is also launching two new flavours to the South African market. In addition to the existing Oat and Blueberry, Oat and Cranberry and Choc Chip flavours, South Africans can now also enjoy the new Oat and Mango and Cappuccino flavours.

Royal Dansk started more than 75 years ago when young Anna and Marinus Kjeldsens opened a small bakery in a tiny village in Denmark. In 1966, the Royal Dansk brand was established and a new range of crisp, delicious and luxury products was born. The cookies were packed and delivered in a recognisable blue tin showing the old Danish farmhouse named "Hjemstavnsgaard" from the island of Fuen in Denmark. Today, Royal Dansk Butter Cookies are enjoyed all over the world, and the cookies continue to be just as delicious as the ones Anna and Marinus made so many years ago.

The Kelsen Group in Denmark now owns Royal Dansk and has experienced strong growth over the last couple of years. Today, the group consists of two modern bakeries in Denmark with a total of 12 production lines plus subsidiaries in the US and Hong Kong. It exports its cookies to more than 110 countries around the world.

The opening of its South African office in Cape Town means that not only will the distribution network have an on-the-ground support office but also the group will now focus more sales and marketing efforts in its bid to grow the brand across the continent. To support growth in South Africa, the group will be putting its weight behind a marketing campaign that includes in-store and online activations. "For us, Cape Town is the ideal gateway for our expansion into Africa and we are excited to be on this journey," says Oliver Hugo, Kelsen Group.
