KTV launches new website

KTV is launching a new web site, which will represent significant value for their advertisers who have discovered an entire new audience with eyeballs on the Internet.

Research has shown that kids' spending is increasing globally to the sum of about R4-billion per year and that this techno-savvy target market is also looking for trendy purchases and bargains on the Internet. Since KTV has already tied the on-line option into several successful promotions, the channel is continually on the lookout for challenges from advertisers who want to position their product above the rest.

KTV General Manager, Lee Walker, says the website is a new area of growth and exploration for them. "We are excited about the potential of this medium for advertisers and for our young users. The website will be more versatile, interactive and visually appealing, but will continue to exploit fresh content. Already we use the site as a natural driver for kids to obtain their competition entry forms and download all the required information for our special projects, like 'Market Day' and 'Write Stuff'. In the near future, we will also be investigating certain promotions that we will only run on the website."

Walker says they have included several interactive elements on the site, which are invaluable in terms of feedback from their users. "The KTV Opinion Poll allows children to post suggestions and give us their input , whilst the KTV Forum has been set up like a bulletin board, where children can discuss various topics."

The new website continues to highlight elements of the on-air presence and other popular features are the gossip section, games, competitions, KTV diary and in keeping with international trends, elements like ringtones and fansites. "We are also considering incorporating several added value elements like a webcam in the studio to let the kids get behind the scenes view of what really goes on before we go to air," says Walker.

The website will serve as a mine of information for youngsters, making it unnecessary for them to search elsewhere and (a note here to the parents), in a safe, secure environment. CD reviews, artist information, news, presenter profiles and links to sites relating to the latest programming and promotions with international suppliers are all available at one address : www.ktv.co.za.
