Championing the South African consumer
The Micro Finance Regulatory Council (MFRC) has been recognised as the most significant force in safeguarding the rights of South African consumers. The MFRC was adjudged best in the Department of Trade and Industry's Organisational Champion Category and honoured with the 2006 Award for Champions at an awards ceremony at the dti group campus on 13 March 2006.
The award is in recognition of the leading role that the MRFC has played in educating consumers and ensuring that consumer rights are both highlighted and protected.
It also honours the MFRC for dealing effectively with complaints and its pivotal role in the drafting of the National Credit Bill, which will be signed into law in due course.
