    Earning income from music

In an effort to uplift music composers and fulfil its objectives, the Composers' Association of South Africa (CASA) will run a series of four free workshops scheduled for 2012, under the theme 'Earning Income from Composing Music'.

The first one, entitled 'Understanding Music Publishing' is scheduled for Wednesday 7 March 2012 from 10am to 1pm at SAMRO House, 20 De Korte Street, Braamfontein.

A group of concerned music composers formed CASA in 2002 after realizing that there was a lack of information flow amongst music composers and within the music industry in general. Its objectives include:

    • Offering information and general advice to music composers
    • Promoting knowledge and understanding towards fair and effective management of composer's music rights.
    • Promoting and protecting the rights of South African music composers
    • Providing a forum for debating issues of interest to composers

The current executive committee consists of Musa Manzini (Chairperson) Colin Shapiro (Deputy Chair) Ron Brettell, Concord Nkabinde, JB Arthur, Keith Hutchinson, Joel Assiasky and Mfanelo Ntlama.

To attend the workshop, send an e-mail to az.oc.sresopmoc@ocxe or SMS +27(0)82 444 9762.
