In partnership with WiFi specialists, Connected Space, the service will be accessible from as little as R20 to passengers travelling between Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Johannesburg.
"The service caters to a new generation of travelers who have become dependent on connectivity. This unique partnership allows us to bring the convenience and benefits of Wi-Fi access to travelers," says Nadine Hetreed, Connected Space marketing and sales manager.
Tourists struggle to find WiFi hotspots, especially in smaller towns and remote locations; this now creates an opportunity for travelers needing to access the internet while they are on the open road. Allowing for full internet connectivity, the service is compatible with WiFi enabled devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets.
The Cape Town - Port Elizabeth route was piloted to test equipment, signal strength and usage, thereafter a decision was made to extend the service within the rest of the Baz Bus fleet.
Passengers can buy vouchers directly from the drivers or use a credit card through the landing portal. Vouchers do not expire and passengers are able to use their remaining data the next time they are on the Baz Bus.
Baz Bus was lifted off the ground in November 1995 by Barry Zeidel, a qualified accountant, entrepreneur and retired backpacker and it has been his dream and long term goal to make WIFI services available in his buses.
"The dream is a now a reality. Passenger feedback has been positive and we are excited to finally be part of the technological era that enables passengers to enjoy internet connectivity while travelling with Baz Bus," says Barry Zeidel, Baz Bus managing director.
Connected Space offers wireless network solutions to various establishments in commercial and multi use tenant complexes as well as the hospitality industry. With the launch of the Baz Bus WiFi, they now offer mobile hotspot solutions.
