The Tenors to play at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City

The annual Oppikoppi festival allows a number of top international artists to perform on South Africa soil. This year's headline artists include the Manchester Orchestra, Yellowcard, and Deftones. Along with the headline artists, a number of smaller international artists perform including, this year, The Tenors.

They sang to Britain's Queen Elizabeth at her Diamond Jubilee, rocked the Oprah Winfrey Show with Celine Dion and took over the stage at the 2011 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Now, The Tenors are coming to South Africa.

This Canadian quartet, who started out playing in church basements in remote Saskatchewan just five years ago, has since shared the stage with international superstars such as Andrea Bocelli, Paul McCartney, Sting and many others, with their unique brand of singing and song-playing classical crossover.

Whether it's Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, Puccini's Nessun Dorma or Bob Dylan's Forever Young, the group keeps an audience enthralled.

They play instruments onstage and arrange and co-write some of their own material.

You can catch them live at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on 8 August at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, Joburg. Tickets: R150 to R200 from www.computicket.com.
