Dr Bothle Michael Modisane, chief director of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Animal Production and Health in Pretoria, has announced the ASF outbreaks have been stamped out.
Earlier, ThePigSite.com website reported that out of 954 susceptible pigs, 249 cases were identified. While 241 deaths were reported, 713 pigs were destroyed.
Illegal movement of animals has been sourced as the major cause of the outbreaks, the report said, adding that all affected farms were depopulated.
